Shoulder height 40-45 inches. Weight 200-275 pounds.
A relative of the oryx, the addax is a medium sized, heavily built
antelope, with horns (both sexes) that are long, spirally twisted,
divergent and prominently ringed. Females have shorter, thinner
horns than that of males. Overall color is a sandy gray, with under
parts and legs being white. There is a dark brown patch on the forehead
and a white patch across the muzzle in front of the eyes. This animal
is native to the Sahara Desert and adjoining semi-desert areas in
Africa.
