Axis Deer or Chital --$1,500 Native of India, a large antlered, adaptable, handsome animal. The most numerous exotic in Texas. It sports a rich chestnut coat with snowy spots scattered in vague rows along the sides and neck. Males weigh 150-250 pounds and stand 29-39 1/2 inches. Axis deer breed and grow antlers year round, affording hunting throughout the year. Possibly the most beautiful of the deer family. |
